Romanian puppeteer. Brândușa Zaîţa Silvestru graduated in 1960 from IATC (Institutul de Artă Teatrală şi Cinematografică Institute of Theatre Arts and Cinematography). She has worked since 1950 at Ţăndărică Puppet Theatre (Teatrul de animaţie Ţăndărică), where she became well known through her performances.
She created many outstanding roles, notably in: Micul Muck (The Little Muck, 1957); Păcală (1959); Elefănțelul curios (The Curious Little Elephant, 1963); Cele trei neveste ale lui Don Cristobal (The Three Wives of Don Cristóbal, 1965); Ileana Sânziana (1967); Peter Pan (1971); Pisica de una singură (The Cat that Walked by Himself, 1976); Făt Frumos din lacrimă (Prince Charming Born of Tears, 1982); Scufița Roșie (Little Red Riding Hood, 1986); Dumbrava minunată (The Magic Grove, 1989); Cenușăreasa (Cinderella, 1990), which won her several awards at national and international festivals. Her numerous performances, including: Puiul (The Little Chick, 1974); Arvinte și Pepelea (Arvinte and Pepelea, 1984); Mănușa (The Glove, 1987); Coțofana hoață (The Thieving Magpie, 1996) are testaments to her extraordinary range of expression and skill.
Since 1990, Brânduşa Zaiţa Silvestru has been teaching in the four-year puppetry programme of UNATC (Universitatea Națională de Artă Teatrală și Cinematografică National University of Theatre Arts and Cinematography) in Bucharest.
