Hungarian amateur puppet theatre company. Founded in the 1960s by Zsuzsa Demeter (b.1943), it performed at the House of Pioneers in Eger County. Having acquired professional status in 1985, the Harlekin is the third puppet theatre in Hungary. Under the direction of Zsuzsa Demeter, it favoured shows for children with mostly shadow theatre and classic fairy tales until 1997. In 2004, with the ushering in of Pál Lengyel (b.1943) as director, the company entered a new era and began exploring new possibilities.
The company creates three to four shows per season in either classical or more modern styles. Its adult audience repertoire is regularly performed at festivals in Hungary and abroad.
