Swedish theatre founded in 1976 by a group of young painters and musicians who discovered the possibilities of shadow theatre. The artistic style chosen by the company is close to comic strips and cartoons and is against any romanticism in children’s culture. Pygméteatern (Pygmy Theatre) has a permanent site theatre located in the centre of Stockholm. The company also tours frequently, combining shows with workshops. The group has received several international prizes for its theatre for young audiences.
